Microsoft has abandoned Nscale's AI data center project at Loughton in Essex, England. Local grid operator UK Power Networks told Nscale the site may not have sufficient power capacity until the early-to-mid 2030s, while the project had been planned to deploy 23,040 Nvidia chips by early 2027, providing 50MW of compute for Azure. Nscale has cleared the site and is seeking alternative power supply, and said its other Microsoft contracts are unaffected.

SWI Group completed an 800M euro ($894M) institutional capital raise, valuing the company at 6.1B euros. SWI acquired ~70% voting rights in Genesis Digital Assets — formerly owned by FTX — in August, renaming it SWI Digital. The company will sell its Kazakhstan mining sites and repurpose US and Swedish facilities for AI workloads. CEO Max-Hervé George said he has "zero interest" in bitcoin mining.

MARA Holdings secured $600M in BTC-backed loans from Coinbase and Two Prime in August, shifting from selling bitcoin to borrowing against it. MARA had sold more than 23,000 BTC in H1 2026. Two Prime CEO Alexander Blume said the deal illustrates how large miners can use reserves to raise liquidity while retaining upside exposure.
