Bitdeer Supports Data Center Oversight in Texas

Since our Rockdale, Texas site went live in 2019, we’ve seen more mining and data center sites come online across the state, making it one of the most important places in the world for digital infrastructure. This comes with real responsibility, as residents and regulators rightly want a clearer understanding of what this ecosystem growth means for the people of Texas, especially in the years to come.
Governor Greg Abbott recently called for greater transparency into how data centers use power and water, their actual costs, and how these sites affect the communities they’re in. We think this is a good thing for community stakeholders to stay informed, and we fully support it. Just as we championed greater transparency via a technology roadmap of SEALMINER mining rigs, we agree that greater industry disclosure encourages responsible, sustainable growth that puts Texans first.
This is not new to us - we’ve already set a high bar for ourselves as part of our commitment to being a good neighbor, and we’re glad to see what we do as part of our operational routine becoming industry standards.
Across our Texas operations we:
- Put homes and businesses first. Over 194 hours of curtailment since 2025, resulting in approximately 55 million kilowatt-hours of reduced grid demand, including a 310MW load reduction during Winter Storm Fern.
- Pay our own way. No real estate tax abatement received for our Texas projects; we fund our own interconnection and infrastructure costs.
- Protect local water resources. Utilize air-cooled, closed-loop cooling systems to minimize use and protect local water resources.
- Revitalize underutilized land. Our Rockdale facility developed the site of a former Alcoa aluminum smelter into a hub for modern digital infrastructure.
- Invest in our communities. We support underserved communities through local organizations, including MARC Developmental Disabilities, Pack Pal Meals for Students, Rockdale ISD Education Foundation, and the Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department.
- Create high quality jobs. Over 100 local community members are currently employed with average annual wages of $80,000.
As a Nasdaq-listed company (BTDR), we already operate under rigorous public disclosure and governance reporting standards, and we see this audit as a natural extension of the accountability we hold ourselves to every day. We look forward to working with the Governor’s office, the Public Utility Commission of Texas, ERCOT, and the people of Texas as we build the future of America’s digital infrastructure together.
